This is how Windows 11 aero could look like

Windows Aero is a design style that came with Windows Vista. Its glass appeal and window translucency were key distinctive elements that extended to Windows 7 as well.

Microsoft abandoned the Aero theme but there are still a few Aero look-alike themes you can download and install on Windows 11. We have a very helpful guide on that, but that’s not an officially supported them and often doesn’t work properly.

Most importantly, people still love the Aero look and recently, a designer posted on Reddit an image of how Windows 11 would look like if Microsoft would take it a little bit further.

It is clearly spawned from the transparent design of Vista and Windows 7, and many people are praising it within the thread.

The designer also posted the image on the Windows_Redesign channel in hopes that Microsoft would watch and consider this proposal.

Here’s one of the most meaningful comments within this thread:

Windows 11 + Aero always looks awesome! I feel like the old Windows versions felt very human, even their promo videos. Windows definitely did not feel too corporate and soulless, it had some sort of a nature aesthetic

The immediate question is why doesn’t Microsoft pursue this look anymore. The explanation might be easier than you think. The Aero style blur behind the windows would be much more complicated to apply nowadays.

So, while we’re on board with anything that makes the interface look better, we would drop it the second a game would struggle loading.
