Microsoft's homage to Akira Toriyama new background

The legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama passed away recently and gaming fans are honoring the Dragon Ball creator all over the World.

To celebrate Toriyama’s work, Microsoft is offering a new dynamic background for Xbox as a tribute to the classic Xbox 360 JRPG Blue Dragon brought by the Japanese 17 years ago.

Microsoft posted this announcement on the Xbox X account:

Honoring a true legend. We’ve added a new dynamic dashboard background featuring Xbox 360’s Blue Dragon, with art and character designs by Akira Toriyama.

The Blue Dragon game was launched worldwide in 2007 and it was supervised by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy. At that time, the game was published by Microsoft as an Xbox 360 exclusive to get attention on the Japanese market.

Toriyama had memorable contributions to video games and its art from the Dragon Quest series is easily recognizable as bearing his magic touch.

Coming back to Microsoft’s homage, the background is free and you can set it up from Xbox’s Personalization options from the Settings menu.
