Remember the days when Copilot wouldn't touch piracy? They're gone

Software piracy is a huge problem for developers since it allows users to use their software without a license.

Even though Copilot doesn’t promote piracy in any way, it can still help you find pirated software, if you know how and where to ask.

Copilot was caught showing links to piracy websites

We all know that Microsoft doesn’t condone piracy, and it came as a shock to us when we learned that Copilot can give you links to websites that are used for illegal file sharing.

This was first discovered by users on Reddit, if you type the right query into Bing, the Copilot will be happy to assist you with its suggestions.

We tested this, and while it didn’t work in Firefox, it worked perfectly in Microsoft Edge. Of course, users were quick to joke around that this is one way to attract users to use Edge on their PC.

Others were quick to point out that Bing is superior to Google, probably due to not censoring search results such as these.

Bing never complain whenever I’m using VPN and search something. Google will ask you a ton of stupid captcha that never get the correct answer, or very very slow verification.

However, the comments were filled with users suggesting to stay away from these types of websites since they are usually filled with malware.

This seems like a bug on Microsoft’s end, and during our testing, we were able to get these results from Copilot in Bing, but not from the Copilot web app. Hopefully, Microsoft will fix this bug soon.

As for Copilot, the Edge was just updated with new AI features, and it seems that Copilot is coming to more devices, so stay tuned for more news.
